Antique Drop Pendant and Chain Necklace with Barrel Clasp - Rolled Gold - 18" - 6.5g

This is a beautiful pendant and chain necklace.
The pendant is very reminiscent of the heart shaped pendants made in support of the women’s Suffrage movement in the early 20th Century. It has a lovely open heart shape design with a vibrant purple gemstone in the centre and sparkling paste stones surround it.
Jewellery displaying these colours of green, violet and white were worn to show support for the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s.
They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: violet/purple for loyalty and virtue , White for Purity and Green for Hope (although this piece does not have any green it does look as though it may have once had a drop section at the bottom). So this stunning pendant is a subtle rose gold colouring and does not have any obvious makers marks.
It is suspended on a rolled gold chain that measures approximately 18" and is marked on the second link with a A double and other markings.
There is an old style barrel clasp which is working well and has a subtle rose gold tint and may possibly be 9ct gold or rolled gold.
The total weight is a good 6.5g.
