This is a beautiful piece of history.
It is an antique locket of good size with a carved floral design on the front very much like sunflowers.
The outside of the locket has a soft shiny mat black finish which looks like it may be enamelled or highly polished.
When the locket is opened there are wonderfully detailed engravings on both sides.
It even still has the original glass protective covers inside which I have left untouched. The locket opens and shuts perfectly and I believe it is made from bog oak which was a popular black material used in the Victorian era. It comes suspended on a sterling silver of 24" .
