This is a lovely gold bar style brooch from the Victorian era. It is a stunning piece of historical jewellery.
The brooch shows a longer pin at the back indicating this is an early Victorian piece. Although there are no hallmarks (just AS on the back) on this item, it is not uncommon for certain items made from gold not to be hallmarked especially during the Victorian period, and especially mourning pieces.
The main part of the brooch is pinchbeck or possibly gold plated but the horseshoe on the front is 9k gold.
