This is a wonderful antique brooch.
It is a beautiful oval shape and the main section is a wonderful polished chalcedony.
This beautiful semi-transparent stone is much like quartz, and is naturally occurring with ingrowths of quartz and morganite so every piece will sightly differ.
There is a floral design on the front with turquoise and ruby garnet cabochons and a twisted curved border rim.
These brooches were often given as a forget-me-not brooch.
The back has a typical c clasp. The chalcedony has internal natural lines, these are not cracks as I cannot feel any disruption to the stone.
It is a wonderful and unusual piece of Victorian/Edwardian jewellery.
