 This is a stunning antique locket.
It is a shiny jet black enamel which is in remarkable condition for its age with a floral design on the front that holds a seed pearl.
The gold trim has been tested as 9ct gold (except the bale) and the inside has vibrant red velvet inserts. Black enamelling was a common technique used for mourning and forget-me-not jewellery during the Victorian era .
The locket opens and closes securely and is suspended on a 18" gold chain which is marked 375 for 9ct gold.
